What ChessTold is

ChessTold explains chess moves in plain English. The free review on this site and the browser extension run Stockfish and the explanations on your own computer. The extension works on finished games and analysis boards on Lichess and Chess.com, and switches itself off during live and unfinished games. Using it to get help during a game you are still playing breaks the fair-play rules of those sites and these terms.

ChessTold Pro

Refunds

If Pro is not useful to you, email hello@chesstold.com within 14 days of buying it, with the email address you bought it with. You get a full refund, no questions asked, and the license key stops working.

Explanations and the engine

Every explanation comes from fixed rules checked against verified positions, and when no rule fits ChessTold says so instead of guessing. Even so, an explanation can be wrong or incomplete. ChessTold is provided as is, without warranty, to the extent the law allows.

Open source

ChessTold is free software under the GNU GPL v3, and so is Stockfish. You can read, change and share the source code. These terms cover the Pro license and this website, not your rights under the GPL.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, the date above changes with them. A change never takes away a Pro license you have already bought. Questions: hello@chesstold.com.

ChessTold is not affiliated with Lichess or Chess.com.
