The website
The free review on this site runs Stockfish and the explanations in your browser. The PGN you paste never leaves your computer. There are no accounts and no analytics. The site is served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs. The Pro page loads Razorpay’s checkout, which may set its own cookies when you pay. ChessTold sets no cookies.
The browser extension
The extension reads the move list of analysis boards and finished games on Lichess and Chess.com, runs Stockfish on your computer and shows its explanation. It sends nothing about your games anywhere. It stores these things in your browser only: which games used today’s free explanations, where you dragged its panel, the Lichess and Chess.com usernames you enter in its options, your Pro license key if you have one, and for Pro users a summary of each finished game they open (its link, date, opening, side and mistakes), which makes up the weakness report.
Payments
ChessTold Pro is paid through Razorpay, which handles your card, UPI or bank details and sends your receipt; seeRazorpay’s privacy policy. ChessTold never sees those payment details. For each purchase ChessTold stores, in a Cloudflare database: the Razorpay payment and order IDs, the email and mobile number given at checkout, the amount, the license key, and for each browser you activate a random ID with the browser’s name. This lets the key work, limits it to 3 browsers, lets “Find my key” recover it, and stops it working after a refund. When you activate Pro, and about once a week after that, the extension sends the key to chesstold.com to check it. To have your purchase record deleted, email us; we refund the purchase and delete the record, and the key stops working.
Fair play
ChessTold only runs on finished games and analysis boards. It switches itself off on live, correspondence and unfinished games.
